Unable To Go Wireless
In order to get my new HP loptop which I acquired while in the US last Christmas connected with a local server in Taiwan(Hinet ADSL), I asked help of a friend. He got me a 802.11b wireless broadband router. Before he went to get it, I forgot to tell him what my son indicated to me, that I should get a “g”. Anyway, the “b” was already in hand, so my friend just went ahead to have it connected to the old router I got when I first purchased the ADSL, installed by a Hinet technician. After dabbing with it for some time(in two days), my old PC got connected to the 802.11b router and I could get on. But, alas, the new HP simply could not get on wireless. My friend seemed to say that he could not help further. So I tried and tried to see if it would go wired! AND THERE, it got connected online! I think the problem is just lacking the knowledge or skill of how to get the wireless set up properly. So, I have a homework to do, studying up the books my son got me for most basics of the art.

Glad you at least have the wired internet working! That gives you the freedom to experiment with the wireless networking component…even if you break it utterly (or a self-proclaimed “expert” breaks it for you), you will at least still have internet.
It’s helpful when installing wireless network for the first time to verify that it’s set up correctly in the first place. The first time is always the hardest.
